Hello! My name is Andrea. I am a bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist who is part of the LGBTQ+ community. I strongly believe that everyone needs and deserves therapy. We all experience difficult times and deserve someone who will listen to us in a nonjudgmental, kind, and helpful way. My goal is to help you become the best version of yourself by processing traumatic experiences, improving emotional regulation, strengthening relationships, increasing motivation to reach your goals, and more.
A little about me: I began my therapy journey at a college counseling center, where I supported students adjusting to life on their own. I then transitioned to substance use treatment, where I had the privilege of working with incredible individuals facing challenging circumstances and lacking the support or tools to cope. I assisted clients who sought help voluntarily and those who were mandated to attend due to probation, parole, or court orders. It was rewarding to witness their growth from maladaptive behaviors into the individuals I knew they could become.
I am now looking to expand my practice to help anyone, without being limited to a specific population. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Tobacco Cessation (TTS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Currently, I am working toward my certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). Additionally, I am trained in Couples Counseling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Group Counseling and Education, and Substance Use Therapy.
Feel free to ask me any questions about these different therapies. The main goal is that they all aim to help you become the best version of yourself, even though they use different methods to get there. Thanks for reading! I’m genuinely happy you’re here.
